Position Overview
This position is tasked with identifying and analyzing potential opportunities for secondary-market investments primarily in syndicated bank loans and corporate bonds across a wide variety of industry sectors. The Investment Analyst role is responsible for generating investment ideas as well as developing a comprehensive initial analysis of identified investment opportunities, including analysis of the financial statements of borrowers/issuers, cursory review of governing borrowings documentation, and the preparation of industry overviews and competitive analyses. The Analyst will be an integral member of deal teams, and will work closely with senior executives to evaluate and execute transactions. This is a full-time, onsite position located at our Plano, TX Headquarters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
- Source new investment opportunities, primarily through screening and analysis of publicly available information
- Assist investment teams in the evaluation, structuring, and negotiation of the firm's transactions
- Build financial models and valuation analyses
- Prepare and present investment presentations
- Perform fundamental credit analysis and conduct due diligence for potential transactions
- Analyze capital structure and credit documentation
- Assess financial, operating and bankruptcy/restructuring prospects
- Research companies, industries, and debt markets
- Monitor and evaluate existing investments
- Actively participate in risk identification and risk management
Qualifications (Education, Computer Skills, Certifications, Etc.):
- 1 to 3 years of prior work experience
- Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively articulate complex concepts both verbally and in writing
- Extreme attention to detail
- Comfort with a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing demands
- Exceptional work ethic and desire to meet the demands of a deal-focused role
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in all endeavors
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, science, math, or other quantitative-related field from an accredited university or college required
- Advanced Excel skills
- Demonstrable working knowledge of Bloomberg Terminal and CoStar is a plus
