Job Description
Overview: An Inventory Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate and organized inventory records for a company. This position involves overseeing the entire Inventory management process, from receiving and storing goods to tracking stock levels and conducting regular audits. The goal is to ensure efficient operations, minimize discrepancies, and support overall business success. This position will report to the Business Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management:
- Work with warehouse and spot audit incoming inventory.
- Assist in maintaining proper storage of products to optimize space and accessibility.
- Implement and follow Inventory Control procedures to track stock levels accurately. Including tracking key metrics.
- Regularly update and maintain inventory databases or management systems.
- Stock Replenishment:
- Monitor stock levels and anticipate inventory needs to prevent stockouts.
- Coordinate with purchasing or procurement teams to reorder products as necessary.
- Ensure that the reorder process aligns with demand forecasts and sales trends.
- Auditing and Reporting:
- Conduct routine and ad-hoc inventory audits to identify discrepancies.
- Conduct daily cycle counting reporting discrepancies when needed.
- Generate reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and any variances.
- Analyze data to identify trends, assess inventory turnover, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, such as production/ operations, supply chain, sales, and finance, to maintain a seamless flow of information.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to resolve any inventory-related issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis on inventory or service failures and provide corrective actions.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect and assess the quality of incoming inventory to ensure compliance with standards.
- Flag and report any defective or damaged products for appropriate action.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline inventory processes and improve overall efficiency.
- Propose and implement solutions to reduce costs, enhance accuracy, and optimize inventory management.
- Technology Utilization:
- Utilize inventory management software and other relevant technologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in inventory management systems.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in inventory management is a plus.
- Proven experience as an Inventory Specialist or in a similar role.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Certified to drive a fork truck.
