Inventory Control Manager

Primary Function/Summary
The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for all processes, procedures, and system requirements for parts inventories throughout all warehouses including our mobile fleet. The Inventory Control Manager directs, plans, and controls the activities of purchasing (security and advanced replacement parts), shipping, receiving, and warehousing of parts inventories. The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the integrity of the part counts both physically and systemically in all warehouses which requires partnerships with other teams within the company. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations.
Responsibilities
Provide a world class customer experience!
  • Continually reviews and adjusts inventory usage and levels to ensure the Field Technicians have what they need in their vans to service the assigned machines
  • Ensures timely and cost-effective delivery/movement of parts inventories to keep the system up to date and provide team members parts where and when they need them
  • Manages refurbish and repair vendor relationships to maximize the life cycle of parts inventories and provide cost effective replacement inventories
  • Manages parts returns process to ensure highest recovery of warranty dollars
  • Develops an effective storage rack labeling system and process to ensure parts are placed in the right locations and are easily and quickly found when needed
  • Ensures receipts of transfers, returns to warehouse, and other parts arriving at main warehouse dock are reviewed, received correctly, and placed in appropriate bins or on appropriate shelf location in a timely manner (48 hours or less for all items)
  • Creates process for transfer of parts inventories to different departments within NuSource for repairs or modifications of machines to ensure inventory counts stay accurate
  • Designates individuals who are authorized to fulfill parts requests and access the inventory
  • Develops and enforces an easy-to-use process for requesting inventory parts
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining an inventory cycle count program to ensure proper processes and procedures are being following and to eliminate inventory losses
  • Suggests system changes to make inventory management and requests easy to use and execute
  • Earns the trust and respect of team members by meeting inventory expectations of Field Technician team members
  • Performs reconciliations for all cycle count reporting and develops reports for quarterly inventory reviews
  • Develops a plan to perform one (1) physical inventory every calendar year at main and satellite warehouse sites

  • Proficient computer skills, especially Excel but also Word and Outlook
  • Strong process and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions to problems
  • Very detail oriented, organized person with ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment

Education, Training, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience in inventory management supporting a Field Services operation
  • 3-5 years of experience with inventory management functions
  • 3-5 years of management/supervisor experience
