POSITION SUMMARY

Coordinates the activities of workers concerned with shipping, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and keeping records on finish goods, components, and raw materials by performing the following duties.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

The specific minimum competencies needed to perform the essential duties of the job include knowledge, skills, abilities, level of education, and experience necessary for successful performance. These competencies are generally demonstrated through specific service, education, or training.

Knowledge:

  • Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • QUALIFICATIONS Should be computer literate in Microsoft Excel and Word applications and have a working knowledge of purchasing software and MRP systems.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and be a "hands-on" supervisor.
  • Must possess very good and positive interpersonal communications skills and work well within multiple departments.
  • Must be able to understand the responsibilities and activities relating to all groups and departments with whom he/she will interface, and have demonstrated the ability to be a part of meaningful problem solving process relating to product/process quality assurance.

Level of Experience: A minimum of five (5) years experience in the warehouse/inventory manufacturing environment.

Level of Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The core tasks, duties, and responsibilities that must be performed on the job.

  • Insures that on-time accurate and properly packaged shipments to customers are maintained.
  • Advises employees on packaging and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and related problems.
  • Responsible to be up-to-date on shipping status at all times and reports shipment status to the department manager on a continuous basis.
  • Schedules and coordinates all Assembly production activities to insure shipments and inventory objectives are met, and build priorities are maintained.
  • Completes weekly schedule sheet on Monday mornings, accurately and insuring that all orders are scheduled.
  • Keeps the Assembly schedule board updated and accurate at all times. Have daily updates on the board complete prior to the start of the 8:30 morning Assembly production meeting.
  • Performs daily inventories necessary to generate the schedule updates.
  • Generates truck requirements for all external warehouse and insures that the trucks are loaded accurately and on a timely manner.
  • Estimates order ship dates and product availability as requested by Customer Service and schedules assembly accordingly to insure promise dates are kept.
  • Provides pricing and options on freight forwarding as requested on International orders by Customer Service.
  • Coordinates International shipments with freight forwarder.
  • Coordinates all traffic requirements to support shipments including, truck, air UPS type shipments and the resupply of remote warehouse.
  • Supervises shipping warehouse personnel to insure the timely completion of assigned tasks and job responsibilities.
  • Takes responsibility for the scheduling and monitoring of shipping warehouse overtime. Must have approval from the department manager.
  • Keeps the warehouse clean and organized at all items.
  • Insures that first in, first out (FIFO) and lot traceability is maintained.
  • Insures that the proper usage and accuracy of the material movement ticket is maintained.
  • Insures the security of warehouse and supporting equipment is maintained including the proper parking and lock up of company vehicles.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of both the forklifts and the company vehicles and notifies outside service facility for repairs.
  • Cross-trains warehouse personnel to optimize efficiency.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipment.
  • Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment.
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
  • Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Adjusts errors and complaints.
  • Maintains timecards, incentives and absences of employees.
  • Must be willing to do whatever may be necessary to complete warehouse tasks including loading or unloading trucks preparing shipments.
