Job description

As an Inventory Control Associate at the Exchange, you will support staff by maintaining appropriate inventory levels to keep our stores fully stocked and remove any excess product. Your position is critical to the daily operations of the store and you will work with management to determine any problem areas. This is a highly independent position, requiring being proactive and having the initiative to tackle tough issues. If you are research driven, with a strong attention to detail, this position is for you!

So what can you expect as an Inventory Control Associate at the Exchange?
  • Follow all safety guidelines and operating procedures
  • Deliver extraordinary customer experience by engaging customers and prioritizing customer needs over tasks
  • Listen to customer needs; ask appropriate follow-up questions to ensure you offer appropriate products that meet the specific need of the customer
  • Able to use computer software to order a variety of items, including customer orders, vendor orders, rain checks, and emergency orders
  • Monitor inventory to include merchandise turnover, cyclical counts, promotional items, and slow moving items

Completion of high school or the equivalent. One year experience in retail environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Able to learn and adapt to current technology needs

  • Knowledge of Inventory Control systems and reporting preferred

Major Duties

Provides high level of customer satisfaction through excellent service. Greets each customer upon contact, assesses their needs, suggests alternative options, and provides solution resolution. Keeps their needs foremost and creates a welcoming environment, actively engages, and builds trust relationship with the customer in order to deliver a personalized shopping experience.
Drives the customer experience in one or more sales area by utilizing and adhering to merchandise presentation standards including, but not limited to, arranging space on sales floor, assists with price changes and shelf labels, executing and maintaining planograms.
Builds an engaging and productive trust relationship with the customer by maintaining merchandise inventory. Reviews inventory reports to include merchandise turnover, cyclical counts, promotion items, slow moving items, adjusts on-hands, and identify excess merchandise. Alerts management to merchandise not in stock and reports errors/issues.
Performs all store ordering to include vendor orders, customer convenience orders, rain checks, and emergency orders. Organizes and maintains stock room merchandise. May stock, scan, or stage items. Coordinates returns to vendor.
Actively communicates/promotes the benefits of the Military Star credit card, Exchange protection plan, and other corporate programs to customers to drive sales growth and increase customer brand loyalty.
Assures compliance with fire, safety, sanitation, and security regulations, as well as ensuring the security of fixed assets, cash, and inventory. Practices loss prevention procedures and alerts security and management of potential problems that may involve fraud, waste, and abuse.
Performs other duties as assigned.
