General Purpose of Job

The position is responsible for the receipt, storage, issue and delivery scheduling for overhead and underground construction; conduct regular inventory analysis to ensure the availability of materials; oversee the materials management records, documentation and data entry relating to receiving, inventory management and material issuing; responsible for maintaining all scrap materials contracts, records and disposal, transmission and distribution material planning and Inventory Control processes for each warehousing facility; material forecasts for stocking requirements and future system improvement projects; assists the Inventory Control Manager with setting up cycle count frequencies based on ABC stratification; exercises authority to make recommendations and/or decisions regarding the purchase or disposal of construction materials; sets system minimum/maximum and re-order points; works with Warehouse Supervisors to make inventory stocking decisions based on available warehouse and yard real estate constraints.

Minimum

2 Year / Associate Degree

Major:

Business management, Finance, Supply Chain, Logistics or a degree with a focus on Inventory Control.

Preferred

Other

Major:

Certification in Inventory Control and Management.

Experience

Minimum

Three (3) years' experience with responsibility in supply chain or material Inventory Control and planning.

Preferred

Experience or similar work with an electric utility or related industry.

Education and/or Experience Notes

Job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations.
  • A valid Florida driver's license for regular driving privileges of a company vehicle; must have and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by SECO Energy.
  • Normal work hours shall be eight (8) hours between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Some business travel for training and development.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.

Driving Requirements: A Valid Florida driver's license for regular driving privileges of a company vehicle; must have and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by SECO Energy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to acquire knowledge of RUS construction specifications and National Electric Safety Code safety regulations; ability to read and interpret distribution line construction drawings and apply all SECO Energy standards to material and inventory.
  • Ability to acquire working knowledge of the materials, equipment, supplies, and apparatus required for electric utility distribution and transmission construction, maintenance, and operation.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information, and effectively manage stress and pressure in a frequently changing environment, ability to multi-task calmly and effectively in all situations.
  • Basic math, tabulation, and reconciliation skills with strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the operation of personal computers and MS Office Suite programs, with proficiency using word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and electronic mail software applications; ability to acquire skill and use of applicable corporate software/computer systems for material inventory and management.
  • Effective communication skills including written, verbal and listening; ability to prepare all types of office correspondence; design and produce reports; prepare and present presentations; excellent documentation skills and detail orientation.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with managers, employees, vendors, and others; excellent planning, organizational and analytical skills with ability to work independently and in a team environment to accomplish established goals and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge in most aspects of Inventory Control methods and practices; ability to analyze and interpret material inventory reports; render sound judgment and decisions commensurate with responsibilities; demonstrated expertise in writing reports, technical procedures, and manuals.
  • English is the primary business language. Second language in Spanish is desirable.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

Prepare material requisitions required for Construction Work Plan projects:

  • Determine if materials to be provided by vendor or SECO.
  • Schedule material pick up at SECO locations.
  • Serve as Liaison between SECO and Villages, Contractors, SECO Engineering, and/or SECO Operations Center.
  • Maintain all records of material activity.
  • Receive/charge materials.
  • Schedule deliveries of materials to construction project job sites as required.
  • Coordinate material acquisition by contract and SECO employees at SECO storeroom locations and monitor material activity.
  • Audits inventory transactions in the receiving, replenishment, warehouse stock to ensure the management of inventory at all levels of the supply chain.
  • Review material purchase lead times and work with commodity buyers to keep stock in inventory at each warehouse facility and vendor facilities.
  • Complete Material reconciliations for the Work Order closing process.
  • Prepare and analyze reports to enable management to monitor and measure overall inventory accuracy. Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies to formulate recommendations in the form of process enhancements.
  • Receive and Charge Non-Inventory items.
  • Routinely review re-order reports for each warehouse facility and take the appropriate corrective action for negative balances, adjusting reorder points based on purchasing lead times, historical usage and forecasts and for assuring that required materials are either transferred or requisitioned into the warehouse in need of materials.
  • Work with commodity buyers in the Procurement unit to advise of vendor stocking needs and requirements; SECO's vendor alliances and various vendors.
  • Routinely attend project planning and scheduling meetings to produce material forecasts for materials needed for routine stock requirements and forecasting material requirements for future revenue projects and system improvement projects, etc.
  • Create and perform audit of cycle counts of materials at each warehouse facility Identify surplus and obsolete materials within warehouse facilities and make recommendation for their disposition to the Logistics Supervisor.
  • Maintains administrative records for all inventory related matters following RUS record retention regulations.
