Inventory Clerk

Performs a variety of duties to update and maintain records of receipt, shipment and transfer and proper identification and tracking of inventory items. Prepares packages and labels as needed to fill orders for customers, stores and dealers. Maintains records necessary for proper accounting. Insures that all stores and dealers are properly stocked.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Prepares and maintains records of transfers of inventory items to stores and dealers.
2. Processes shipment and receipt of packages and maintains paperwork according to established procedures, including a backorder log.
3. Updates files to reflect movement of inventory.
4. Check new items in, insuring proper labeling, pricing and storage.
5. Assign new numbers, deletes old inventory numbers and pricing from system as needed. Makes adjustments as required.
6. Processes orders as per purchase orders received.
7. Checks stock status and reorders as needed.
8. Maintains stock room in a neat and organized fashion.
9. Answers questions from outlets regarding availability and shipment status,
10. Process shipments for customers
11. Insure retail sales floor has necessary stock of items.
12. Provides stickers for pagers for gas station.

• Position requires high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum 1year experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of general computer use is required.
• Background or familiarity with inventory systems is helpful.

NICHE SKILLS:

Requires basic aptitude to perform procedures relative to one’s own job. Average recruitment period is up to 6 weeks with standard recruitment effort.

MENTAL EFFORT AND ANALYTICAL ABILITY:

Position requires some mental effort or analytical ability in order to gather and interpret information, but is limited to situations where the problems are not difficult or complex.

VISUAL AND/OR PHYSICAL STRAIN:

Work frequently produces a high level of mental, visual and/or physical fatigue between 21% and 50% of work time.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

This position frequently (21% to 50% of work time) requires contact with others within and/or outside the company. Matters discussed and decisions made are of a routine nature.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Climb stairs and/or ladders
• Lift boxes weighing approximately 5 to 50 pounds
