Position Summary:
Performs complex neurodiagnostic procedures in the Intraoperative monitoring field as well as all modalities required as a registered neurodiagnostic technologist.
Performs all basic IOM modalities including EMG Monitoring of spinal and neurosurgeries,
Somatosensory Evoked potentials including posterior tibial nerve stimulation, peroneal nerve
stimulation, median nerve stimulation, and ulnar nerve simulation.
- Performs Brain Stem Auditory Evoked responses in the operative field as well as strip and grid mapping for Neurosurgical cases.
- Performs Motor Evoked Potentials when required by surgeon on anterior spinal case. Utilizes current inducing subdermal electrodes with proper placement of appropriate corresponding muscle groups via trans cranial method.
- Performs correct modalities in the OR environment. Gives on-line interpretations to surgeon; keeps an accurate record of baselines as well as critical values throughout cases.
- Performs intraoperative EEG and/or EP monitoring during surgery and provides on-line interpretations to surgeon. Utilizes the International 10 -20 Electrode Placement System to measure, mark and apply electrodes to the predetermined positions on the patient's scalp.
- Communicates with neurologists giving details of baselines, significant signal changes, etc.
Neurodiagnostic Tech A
Performs all duties of the Neurodiagnostic Tech A as well as Intraoperative Monitoring.
Qualifications/Requirements
Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field
Experience: 1-3 years
Associate's degree in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology.
