Your Specific Responsibilities:

Greets and assists internal and external customers in a courteous and respectful manner that presents a positive public image, makes sure all sign in and their information is updated per visit.  Checks clients in. Reschedules clients and notifies clients of any appointment changes when necessary. Answers the phone, screens calls, take messages, transfer calls.  Confirms client's appointments. Verifies and collects client and family income, residency, and insurance status.  Registers clients and makes appointments into appropriate clinics based on client needs and clinic guidelines, both in HMS and the electronic oral health record. Process records requests and dental referrals. Scan documents into client's oral health records. Post superbills and process billing of superbills

 

Interviews clients to determine eligibility. Copies and transfers client record when requested.  Collects and inputs client services into HMS; accept fees when required, issuing a receipt with payment label to each client.  Prepares billings making sure eligibility is verified and attached to each billing, runs end of day reports, compile superbills at end of day for billing, balances cash drawer and prepares weekly deposits per NCHD policy. Order office supplies according to NCHD guidelines.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

           

           Ability to communicate effectively and listen effectively

           Knowledge in determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job

           Ability  to identify personal strengths and weaknesses to improve job performance.

           Skills in active listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate

           Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions                 

           Knowledge of computer software including applications

           Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments

Qualifications:

Minimum-

  • One year experience with face-to-face customer service
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.

 

Preferred -

Experience in a dental office setting in an office assistant role.

Previous DOH experience in a clinic setting as clerk
