Interviewing Clerk

 

This position will be located at the Panama City, Florida Service Center

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Children and Families that any applicant being considered for employment must successfully complete a State and National criminal history check as a condition of employment before beginning employment, and, if applicable, also be screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S., and Chapter 408, F.S.  No applicant may begin employment until the background screening results are received, reviewed for any disqualifying offenses, and approved by the Agency.  Background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal history checks through local law enforcement agencies.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • One year of secretarial or clerical work experience; or
  • Possession of a Certified Professional Secretary Certificate.
  • Vocation/technical training in an area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for the required work experience.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for the required work experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for this position will be asked to submit a certified copy of a typing test result that is no older than 6 months in order to be considered for the position.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is work interviewing and/or determining eligibility of persons applying to receive assistance from government programs and agency resources, such as public health and social services programs. Typical duties include:

 

  • Interviews and/or investigates applicants for public health and social services programs to gather information pertinent to their application.
  • Selects and refers eligible applicants to public assistance or public housing agencies.
  • Records and evaluates personal and financial data to determine initial or continuing eligibility.
  • Initiates procedures to grant, modify, deny or terminate eligibility and grants for various assistance programs.
  • Prepares regular and special reports, keeps records of assigned cases, and submits individual recommendations.
  • Prepares and assists applicants in completion of routine intake and personnel forms.  
  • Explains eligibility requirements, form completion requirements, community resources for financial assistance, and/or provides program benefits.  
  • Reviews applicant information.
  • Interviews and screens clients for program eligibility and schedules appointments within established procedures.
