Christie Clinic's department of Vein and Vascular is seeking a full-time Interventional Radiology Technologist, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm at the University clinic. The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures utilizing digital imaging. Under general physician supervision, the technologist functions in scrub and circulating roles. The technologist performs image reconstruction, processing and assists with patient preparation, and recovery as necessary.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Requirements may include lifting or assisting in the lifting of patients weighing greater than 300 pounds and placing them in appropriate positions for operation of equipment. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of radiological equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical, outpatient setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and medicinal preparations.
Requirements may include working irregular hours.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Operates imaging system for special procedures.
- Patient identifiers are entered into the radiography equipment prior to start of procedure.
- Equipment is set up properly for fluoroscopy within the parameters directed by physician.
- Digital image acquisition is performed at appropriate filming rate for procedure.
- Annotations are correctly performed.
- Panning is provided and technologist is constantly present and available for panning and table movement.
- Efficiently and effectively provides procedural support for a variety of patient procedures.
- Procedure room is prepared with appropriate tray, supplies, and support equipment.
- Patient is positioned properly for procedure.
- Scrub duties are provided when needed.
- Sterile technique policies and practices are followed and monitored.
- Supplies are provided or retrieved expediently, with accuracy, and reasonably anticipated prior to start of procedure.
- Remains in room, engaged with procedure, and assist with any requests.
- Applies appropriate measures in order to minimize radiation exposure to self, patients, employees, and others.
- Applies pressure to groin sticks as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
