Qualifications: Must be able to use sign language efficiently - ASL
AND
Educational Interpreter performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 2.5 or higher
AND
High School Diploma or the equivalent
AND
Minimum of sixty (60) academic credit hours from an accredited
institution of higher education
or
An associate degree (or higher)
or
Ready to Work Credentials
* WIN - Copy of WIN Assessment - minimum of Silver: Level 4
or higher
or
* Work Keys - Copy of passing scores on three areas of Work
Keys Assessment-Applied Mathematics (4),
Reading for Information (4), Writing (4)
or
ParaPro - Copy of passing score (minimum 456) on ParaPro, the
state approved academic assessment
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

JOB GOAL:
Working with an individual student, assisting the child to reach the optimum achievement level by providing assistance to the teacher and/or the parents
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpret from voice to sign and sign to voice to facilitate communication in the mainstreamed classroom
- Serve as liaison between student and mainstreamed classroom teacher
- Maintain daily reports of classroom activity, material covered, and student assignments
- Participate in in-service training programs
- Maintain high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information
- Perform other duties as assigned
