Job Description
Job Title: Interpreter
Supervisor: Chief Team Relations and Forensics Officer
Summary: The Interpreter provides language translation and interpretation services to support the Child Protection Team during the investigation and prosecution of crimes involving children.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or associate degree with 3 years’ experience in translation or interpretation
· Certified interpreter
· Licensed Court Interpreter by the Texas Judicial Branch a plus
· Experience interpreting in the medical field or criminal justice system preferred
· Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish in written and spoken communication
· Ability to work with diverse groups/disciplines in stressful settings
· Ability to work within complex criminal justice systems
· Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team
· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, especially in challenging and complex environments
· Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports
· Knowledge of fundamentals of effective interpretation
· Knowledge of standard practices and ethical standards in interpreting/translation
· Knowledge of computer software applications
Job Tasks:
1. Transcribes and translates audio/video recordings and/or written documents from Spanish to English to be used in court proceedings
2. Translates documents from English to Spanish
3. Assists with in-person interpretation between English and Spanish for clients, Center staff, and agency partners, as needed
4. Creates and maintains documentation of translations and interpretations conducted
5. Provides program support for forensic, clinical, and medical services, as needed
6. Adheres to the Center’s Code of Conduct
7. Attends monthly staff meetings
8. Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the mission, core values and vision of the organization and the children’s advocacy model
9. Performs other duties as assigned

Pay: $59,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year
