This internship will expose the team member to all levels in the organization to assist in building a resume that will allow the team member to become competitive in the job market.

Job Overview:

The team member will be working in an internationally orientated, driven, automotive development team. We offer insights in different working fields of mechanical and electrical engineering. You will enjoy the chance to work together with expert customers, known as MasterUpfitters (such as Winnebago, Airstream etc.) who are customizing (upfitting) Mercedes-Benz vans (Sprinter and Metris) into a variety of products, including RVs, luxury shuttles, parcel delivery vehicles and more.

The candidate will be responsible for coordinating and evaluating applications and products in to the Mercedes-Benz MasterUpfitter program. In addition, the aspiring engineer will create and implement a Mercedes-Benz quality and standards guide, termed as the Body and Equipment Guideline. The student will gain a deep understanding of Mercedes-Benz internal communication and allow for networking with R&D in our headquarters, based in Stuttgart, Germany.

This position is supervised by a senior engineer and will report to the Head of R&D USA/Canada.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate MasterUpfitter applications and evaluations within the team
• Working closely with multiple disciplinary teams (sales, R&D and product management)
• Review complex mechanical and electrical technical integrations of vehicle upfits on to the Mercedes-Benz chassis
• Provide transparency of project-related action items (status reports)
• Create and present technical presentations for executive level management
• Spearhead the Mercedes-Benz Body and Equipment Guideline for the new model year
• Liaise with R&D at our headquarters in Germany to provide easily understandable guidelines for end-customers

• Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant degree is required to participate in the intern program.
• Enthusiast in overall vehicle development. First practical experience preferable.
• German language skills preferable
• Project management skills are a plus
