Job Summary

The Internship Coordinator will provide one-on-one and group career advising and coaching to undergraduate and graduate students and alumni, and is responsible for helping lead the planning, activities/services, and operations of the department's Employer Relations and Internship efforts. Career advising and coaching will include but is not limited to self-awareness and career exploration, interpretation of career assessments, resume, curriculum vitae, and cover letter writing, mock interviews, class presentations, professional career transition topics, and job, graduate, professional school search strategies. The Internship Coordinator II will assist in the implementation of the Career Planning Milestones Program, provide data collection and analysis for the First Destination Survey, and assist in leading the planning and execution of Career Fairs and other networking events .

Responsibilities

Advising - 50%
Advise and coach students in one-on-one and group settings (including workshops and class presentations) to include but not limited to resume reviews, mock interviews, career and major exploration techniques, administering and interpreting career assessments, professional career transition topics, and internship, job, and graduate/professional school search strategies. The Internship Coordinator II will provide career coaching and career management guidance to students as it pertains to applying to internships and exploring through job shadowing opportunities, and stay current on trends, resources, research, and employer recruitment activities that impact student employability.
Liaison - 10%
Serves as a liaison between employers seeking or supervising interns and designated academic departments, communicates with faculty and academic advisors about upcoming events, to set up and facilitate class presentations, and provide consultation to faculty who coordinate academic internship programs. Will work with Student Life departments to connect students to additional resources to enhance their career development efforts and employability.
Database Management - 10%
Manages the electronic internship documentation approval process as well as the database of internships and shadowing opportunities through Handshakes, which includes communicating with students, faculty, and employers.
Event Planning - 20%
Plans and executes career fairs, workshops, and special events related to internships and job placements.
Supervision - 10%
Supervises and trains student staff members and department interns.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Required Experience
At least one year experience with in career services or employer relations.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
At least 2 years of work experience in career services and employer relations on a college campus. Ability to perform various interest and personality assessments and operate computerized career guidance systems such as Focus2 and Big Interview.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Ability to use technology for conducting surveys and tracking and monitoring student progress for completing career development plans. Capable of multi-tasking and setting priorities within a team environment, and able to identify, select, and implement career coaching/advising/counseling interventions and techniques appropriate to student goals.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of employability skills and workforce development trends, student and career development theories and their application in practice, and career development resources and practices.
SKILLS
Attention to detail and logistics; Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; verbal and written communication skills; ability to multi-task and manage priorities.
