Chemical Energy - Field Engineer 

Project Name: Wet Tube Mill Energy Profile Optimization

Project Duration: 3months 

Paid Internship: The pay rate for this internship is commensurate with the candidate's years of schooling and major. The pay scale is between $15 - $26 per hour.

Requirements:

• Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in Chemical engineering degree preferred

• Coursework Prerequisites: Principles of Chemical Engineering

Transport I & II would be a plus

Location: Sylacauga, Alabama

PROJECT SCOPE:

Develop a product specific Energy consumption Profile on existing Tube Mill Circuits relating to Energy Consumption for various Products. Take into consideration the incoming feed, Production Rates, feed factors, and changing performance factors, along with changing PSD of Wet Plant Feed.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION & DELIVERABLES:

This job will most likely consist of a 50/50 split between office work and work in the field. A successful project relies on talking with operators to understand the process, taking physical samples and measurements in the field, and compiling the knowledge and data into an easily interpretable format.

PROJECT LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• MSHA Certification with exposure to critical safety items such as

  • Lock Out Tag Out Try Out

  • Working at Heights

  • Confined Spaces

  • Risk Assessments

• Generating a mass balance using real data

• Generating an energy balance using real data

• Providing recommendations based on process analysis

• Updated standard operating procedure to ensure sustainable change

• Communicating with all levels of employees, from operators to upper management
