COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE (CPW)
Our Mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado's natural resources. Colorado Parks and Wildlife.This position will work out of the Littleton Office Complex with the Boating Safety Program and Registrations Program. These programs provided Law Enforcement, Education and Customer Service Statewide to both internally to CPW and externally to the public. An intern in this position will have the opportunity to shadow multiple CPW employees with various jobs and backgrounds and participate in the employees day to day activities. This is a Non Commissioned Position, duties will include:
  • Attending public events to promote Boating Safety in Colorado. This includes setting up displays & activities and interaction with the public. There are approximately ten events during this time period. Most are on Saturdays.
  • Being a point of contact for Boating Safety class registrations and student rosters. This includes working with approximately 20 instructors throughout the state and a web-based registration platform.
  • Coordinating logistics for multiple statewide events, such as river safety patrols, lake safety patrols, our own safety events, etc
  • Provide Customer Service to the Public by selling park passes, hunting/fishing licenses, OHV/boat registrations.
  • Maintaining inventory of Division-owned patrol boats and equipment.
  • Doing data entry- boat accidents, River Outfitter License inspections.
  • Managing the social media portion of program.
  • Designing promotional and other documents (depending on abilities).
  • Conducting research for various projects.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a current & valid drivers' license or reliable transportation OR Must have a current & valid driver's license required for operating a state vehicle
  • Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week.
  • Must be available to work varied shifts, due to the seasonality of boating, weekend shift may be required during boating season.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with or working towards a Natural Resources degree or similar education.
  • Basic computer skills required/preferred, i.e. MS Office Suite, Google App Suite
  • Must be willing and able to climb in and out of vessels and under trailers to perform job functions.
  • Ability to work with [limited] supervision and work well within a team
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Must be willing and able to work outside which may involve inclement weather.
