Brief Overview of Position
The International Trade - Letter of Credit Associate position with the Letter of Credit Unit is responsible for issuing Letters of Credit on behalf of Texas Capital Bank in accordance with Bank policy and in compliance with ISP98, UCP600, URDG758, and URC522. This role involves front-line exposure to the International Trade environment, providing our customers the technical expertise and network needed to effectively manage their Letters of Credit needs. The Letter of Credit team is responsible for issuing and all transactions of Letters of Credit to include Standby Letters of Credit, counter-Standby Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections and Commercial Letters of Credit. The products supported are complex instruments that require close alignments with the business.
Responsibilities

  • Drafting Letters of Credit language, issuing and advising new requests, issuing amendments, and examining documents presented for drawing against issued instruments.
  • Monitor Letter of Credit portfolio to ensure all auto-extensions and non-extension notices are issued in a timely manner.
  • Understanding Letters of Credit documentation under ISP98, UCP600, URDG758, and URC522 governing rules, governing regulations, Bank policies, and Credit risk.
  • Mitigating the financial and reputational risk inherent in any Letters of Credit transaction by performing at the highest levels of aptitude, attention to detail, critical thinking, and risk management.
  • Effectively collaborate with multiple business desks, internal and external legal counsels, as well as Applicants and Beneficiaries to manage all stages of the transaction, and to mitigate risks associated with the Letter of Credit product offering.
  • Requires the ability to handle complex inquiries regarding Letters of Credit from our internal business partners and clients.
  • The position will have increasing administerial duties for day-to-day oversight, training, and personnel development.
  • Assist management with various operational duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree preferred but commensurate work experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience with Letters of Credit and International Trade Finance.
  • Loan Operations background or strong understanding of commercial loan paper and collateral documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and accuracy skill, and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment while balancing multiple priorities.
  • This is a deadline driven process which requires strict adherence to deadlines to avoid financial and reputational risk.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
