Job description

This position is in the USDA, Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), Global Programs program area. FAS links U.S. agriculture to the world to enhance export opportunities and global food security for the expansion and growth of U.S. farmers and ranchers. This position serves as an International Program Specialist in Global Programs.
This is a Bargaining Unit Position.
Qualifications: Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 grade level) or its non-federal equivalent that included experience that demonstrates: leads, coordinates, or attends various meetings and conferences relating to agency program and management operations to explain and resolve particular issues and operations related to operational and policy goals and objectives; determines the accuracy of information and other materials prepared for the review and signature of senior managers in terms of adherence to agency and management policies, regulations, and procedures and performs research, analysis, and associated functions which contribute to the accomplishments of the agency's missions.
Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
