The Production Control Department is responsible for steering Plant Spartanburg's production volume on a long term, short term and daily level, while maintaining an optimized production system. The department is integrated into all aspects of BMW's manufacturing strategies.
The Production Control department is divided into these main areas:
Supports the Strategic Volume Planning and reports to Senior Management. Implementation of plant business strategy into a manufacturing plan.
Order Planning: sequences customer orders by adhering to assembly and supplier restrictions. Drives the master production sequence for the plant.
Program Planning: Develops production strategy (volume plan, shift model, production calendar) short term to long term.
Vehicle Control: manages the vehicle sequence throughout the plant to ensure on-time delivery of orders to our customers.
Qualified individuals interested in this position would be actively involved in all of the day-to-day planning and reporting activities that are necessary for smooth production and operation of the plant. Those duties include:
Support the continuous improvement of departmental processes.
Manage project improvement initiatives both within the department and in partnership with key process partners across various departments (e.g assembly, body, paint, HR, Finance, IT).
Design reporting tools to improve data analysis.
Implement agile methods.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business relations and the production system, supply chain.
Report KPI data for Plant management.
Continuous improvement of the plant volume and reporting systems which are used to steer the plant at multiple level of the organization (Senior management, department management, operations, etc.) - Key Topics: Data analytics, presentation skills, management reporting.
Promote the advancement of future production steering concepts for upcoming structural changes including integration of electrified vehicles - Key Topics: Planning, analysis, project management.
Support the development of the Plant Control room consolidation concept. Integrated approach to production steering across Body Shop, Paint Shop, and Assembly - Key topics: Project management, manufacturing strategy, organizational development.
Lead and coordinate the end of assignment presentations from the interns and PACE associates to the Logistics Vice-President and Management Team.
- Pursuing a degree in Project Management, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Logistics, Management, Engineering, Finance, or Data Analytics.
- Successfully completed an internship or working student assignment with the BMW Group (3 month minimum period).
- Current enrollment in Master program outside of the United States or enrolled in the last semester of a Bachelor program outside of the United States.
