Internal Auditor

The Internal Auditor will conduct audits on MaineCare providers who received Workforce Retention and Recruitment funding under ARPA. 
The providers received funds to help these agencies attract new direct care staff and retain the staff they currently have.  There were specific criteria on the use of the funds that was provided to the agencies applying for the funds. The Agencies are required to submit reports by the end of February documenting how the money was used and supporting their compliance with the criteria for the use of the funds.  We will be auditing those reports to determine compliance.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills to perform the audit work on these agencies:

• A good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Able to interpret policy guidance and apply it for compliance reporting
• Able to reconcile accounting records (general ledger detail, payroll reports) to amounts reported on the compliance forms
• Able to work with providers to get the information needed to complete the audit
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to communicate findings both verbally and in writing
• They need to be detailed oriented and able to document their work
• Excellent computer skills

The person doing these reviews will follow a standard work program to complete their work.  They will report directly to a Deputy Director of the Division of Audit. 
The work will mostly be done independently.
