The Internal Auditor proactively identifies and evaluates risks and controls. They will develop audit programs, execute audit procedures, test work, and identify issues and/or areas for improvement in efficiency or effectiveness. The Indvidual will also plan, organize, and perform other internal control activities and projects.
Essential Functions
- Assist with the collection and preparation of information for both internal and external audits.
- Assist with the development of audit programs, procedures, and work papers.
- Evaluate workflows and internal controls.
- Design and conduct audit tests, including but not limited to tests of transactions, tests of controls, and analytical testing.
- Document audit procedures performed or coordinated/supported.
- Document evidential matter, as warranted.
- Maintain audit work papers, documentation, and files in an organized fashion.
- Participate in the development of remediation plans resulting from any deficiencies identified during the internal or external audit.
- Write reports at the conclusion of audit procedures.
- Review and proof-read all reports and audit work papers prior to submission for review.
- Submit all audit work, (planning, programs, work papers, reports, etc.) to the Audit Manager for review prior to issuance of final reports.
- Clear all review points and resubmit for final review before distribution of final reports.
- Monitor and track remediation progress.
Education and Experience
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field, with a minimum of three years’ experience in retail financial institution operations; internal audit; and/or public accounting. CPA or CIA preferred.
Compensation: base starting range is $40.00 to $53.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
