POSITION SUMMARY
Cigna Internal Audit's Professional Practices team exists to be the engine that drives Internal Audit to greater performance, growth, and innovation. Within this team, the Professional Practices Advisor will work closely with the Professional Practices Director in designing, implementing, and operating new processes that will be key to the success of the broader Internal Audit team. This role will have a unique view of Cigna, its businesses and supporting technologies, with a lens into all aspects of the audit process. In addition, it will have the opportunity to build close working relationships with global audit leaders and team members.
Responsibilities include:
  • Development and maintenance of Internal Audit's Policies and Procedures, including our methodology and supporting documentation, to ensure they are in line with leading practices and industry frameworks/regulations.
  • Operate the Internal Audit Project Management Office (PMO), monitoring the status of audit projects across the department, collecting relevant data points, and synthesizing into relevant insights for audit leadership to effectively oversee the department.
  • Development of Internal Audit presentations and reports for regular and ad-hoc meetings of Cigna's board of directors, audit committee, and senior leadership.
  • Execution of a robust Quality Assurance and Improvement Program, to ensure that audit projects are consistently evaluated for continuous improvement as it relates to conformance with the Internal Audit methodology, industry standards, and commitments to our business partners.
  • Quarterly reporting to Cigna's executive leadership team on the current status of open audit issues.
  • Power user support and administration of the systems and tools used by the Internal Audit team, including SharePoint sites and our Governance, Risk, and Controls (GRC) system.
  • Collecting data and reporting on Internal Audit's key performance indicators to the General Auditor and Internal Audit's leadership team.
  • Facilitation of a training and development program that promotes a consistent curriculum for Internal Audit new hires and tiered education program for experienced auditors.

Position Requirements:
The ideal candidate for this role should have experience with the audit profession and show high organization and communication skills. This role requires strategic and critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to partner with and influence Internal Audit team members to achieve positive outcomes. A Bachelor's Degree is required. 5+ years of experience with an internal or external audit function, preferably with exposure to or experience in a Professional Practices function.
Specific desired attributes in a candidate include:
  • Ability to think strategically, see patterns, anticipate future consequences and trends, then incorporate them into ongoing plans
  • Detail-oriented, structured, and highly organized, without being myopic, rigid, or inflexible.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint Visio, Alteryx, Tableau, and/or OnSpring are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of effective design principles to empower visual and verbal communications.
  • Strong project management/organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and embrace change in a proactive and positive manner
  • Specific industry knowledge and experience in relation to an Audit Professional Practices function
  • Knowledge of IIA standards; Sarbanes-Oxley; risk management techniques and compliance requirements; and relevant health care regulatory requirements
  • Strong individual contributor experience with a track record of independently delivering high-quality work
