This role serves to assist the Department’s Team Leader in the planning, directing, coordinating, and review of Sarbanes Oxley (“SOX”), operational, and compliance audits of the bank and bank holding company. Provides high-level assistance in the oversight and management of the Internal Audit schedule; helps to provide an independent appraisal of audit programs which ensure the effectiveness of policies, procedures, and standards by which the Company’s financial and compliance resources are managed.


  • In coordination with the Internal Audit Department Team Leader, serves as a leader and reviewer of a variety of Internal Audit processes which impact the performance of the Company’s SOX, operational, and compliance audits:
    • Evaluates completeness and relevance of risk assessments.
    • Applies audit principles in performing audit testing and reviews with varying degrees of complexity.
    • Analyzes audit findings and data regarding evidence of deficiencies in controls and evaluates options available as to cost effective risk mitigation and contribution to corporate strategic objectives.
    • Communicates high risk areas with process owners, senior management, and to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
    • Assists in directing audit staff in testing in order to evaluate adequacy of internal controls and accuracy of financial records.
    • Assists in Internal Audit program development.
  • Communicates and interacts directly with the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors including reporting on the scope of audits undertaken, findings, performance to the audit plan and resource requirements.
  • Serves as an Internal Audit liaison to the bank’s business lines, members of management, external auditors, and examiners.
  • Utilizes subject matter expertise to carry out duties related to applicable audit standards and practices.
  • Interacts with third party vendors, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree with other specific professional or technical certifications in related field.
  • In addition to education in Accounting or a related business field, must have 5+ years of audit experience in public accounting.
  • A Certified Internal Auditor (“CIA”) or Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) is also required.
  • Banking or financial experience is preferred.
