Intern - Mortgage Loan Processing

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic college students for our 12-week paid summer internship program.

The Operations Intern will assist the Mortgage Processing Department with:

1. Facilitating various facets of the loan production and investor delivery process
2. Facilitating various sub processes that support loan quality and investor relationships.
3. Extraction and analysis of production data for metric and process improvement support

Below is what you can expect to learn from an internship in our Mortgage Processing Department at First Merchants Bank:

1. Mechanics of loan production and investor delivery
2. Understanding of quality control needs, requirements, and methods
3. Understanding of the practical application of various home lending requirements
4. Functional use of the leading mortgage LOS platform
5. Understanding of the life cycle of a Mortgage Loan
6. How to analyze data for a production unit to enable process improvement

In addition to the learning objectives, all interns will participate as a group in a community service project. There will also be the opportunity to network with our Senior Leaders during our final presentation event in the last week of the program. Each intern will present to the wider intern group, managers and senior leaders about the projects they were involved in and takeaways that will help them be successful in their careers.

Who is qualified to apply?

Students must:

• be a degree-seeking full time student at an accredited college or university.
• be available to work 40 hours per week from May 13, 2024 through August 2, 2024.
• be authorized to work in the United States.
• have demonstrated interest in the industry and/or specific area of interest as exemplified through past work experience, internships and/or major course of study.
• possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• have strong written and verbal communication skills
• be able and willing to travel periodically, if required
