Reports to:
- Paid, full-time summer internship
- The internship period is June 9, 2024 - August 16, 2024
- Must be based in Austin, TX, or willing to relocate for the duration of the internship period
- Will be required to work in person from the office located in the Domain
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the evaluation of project or portfolio acquisition opportunities by analyzing interconnection queues and identifying strategic acquisition targets;
- Support preliminary assessments of potential opportunities to identify key risks, flaws, and opportunities within projects under consideration;
- Contribute to the development of commercial deal structures for acquisitions and partnerships by aiding in the preparation of term sheets and definitive documents under the guidance of senior staff;
- Collaborate with internal and external teams during the initial stages of due diligence for evaluating acquisition opportunities;
- Help maintain relationships with local and regional developers through regular communication and assistance in coordination efforts;
- Provide support to the power marketing team in crafting strategies for entering new markets as needed;
- Engage in primary research by collecting data from utility Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs) and other relevant sources to inform strategic decision-making;
- Learn about development criteria to assist in analyzing attractive market opportunities;
- Monitor competitor activity and assist in the development of competitive intelligence databases;
- Support the identification of promising project locations in targeted markets, working alongside internal experts;
- Participate in various tasks as needed, including project divestitures, development activities, and other company-related matters.
Key Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in a related field or industry equivalent and/or working towards a graduate degree (MBA) is desirable
- A strong interest in the renewable energy sector and a passion for decarbonization initiatives
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team and adapt to an entrepreneurial environment
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage tasks efficiently
- A proactive and enthusiastic mindset with a focus on learning and professional development
