Job description

NEON is a film production company that has garnered 25 Academy Award® nominations, 5 wins, including Best Picture, and has grossed over $200M at the box office in just five years. The company continues to push boundaries and take creative risks on bold cinema with a focus on auteur-driven content and promoting diverse voices. The NEON slate includes Oscar-nominated documentaries, highest-grossing documentaries, and films that have won Palme d'Or at Cannes.
We are currently accepting applications for interns to join our Spring 2024 cohort. We are seeking proactive, passionate and motivated students eager to attain hands-on experience within the independent film landscape through the lens of a distribution company. Our Internship Program is immersive and offers a unique and valuable opportunity for you to showcase your skills, creativity, and insights while gaining hands-on experience. The program is designed to provide exposure to various aspects of film distribution, including marketing, publicity, sales, and acquisitions. Our internship is a collaborative experience that will help build a solid foundation for your career interests and future success.
You will also have access to mentorship from industry professionals who are passionate about supporting the next generation of filmmakers and industry leaders. We believe that diversity and inclusivity are essential components of a thriving film industry, and we are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive work environment. If you are a driven, creative, and passionate individual with a desire to learn and grow in the film industry, we encourage you to apply for our internship program. We are excited to hear from you!
Responsibilities

  • Research marketing and distribution plans to develop knowledge of the competitive landscape; build decks for case studies on past successful releases;
  • Conduct grassroots and organizational outreach for current and upcoming NEON releases;
  • Keep track of and update catalogue of contacts for non-theatrical sales

Requirements
What we're looking for...
  • Enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Google Docs and Excel
  • Highly collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills
  • Culturally literate, engaged with a knack for research, and familiarity with social media platforms and creators
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts, solve problems, and implement solutions
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and analytical writing skills are essential

As an intern, you will be working closely with a team of professionals in the film industry, and therefore, you must have a passion for film. While primarily in Outreach and Partnerships, you will also be assisting in other department projects, including distribution, acquisitions, and publicity as needed.
To be eligible for this internship, you must be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (Spring/Fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a NEON Internship.
Please note the following details regarding the internship:
  • The internship will take place from January 2024 to May 2024.
  • The salary for this role is $16.04 per hour.
  • Candidates are preferred to be available part-time, for approximately 16-24 hours per week or 2-3 full days per week.
  • The internship will be primarily on-site at our New York office.
  • You must provide your own housing and reliable transportation in the New York area.

To apply, please send us your resume and cover letter outlining why you are interested in an internship in Outreach and Partnerships at NEON. Please Note: List your work availability, dates, and days of the week in your cover letter. Please also include an available start date in your cover letter. All candidates must be available for a minimum of 2 days a week, in person, starting mid-January through May.
At NEON, we are looking for diverse perspectives. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourage applications from all candidates without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, family or parental status, veteran, or disability status.
