The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets of Event Planning and implementation, volunteer management, and community outreach. It will offer experience in the use of current business and development technologies, including the use of a computer and software applications. Our internships offer the opportunity to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization, further develop communication and presentation skills, and experience skills in team collaboration and customer service.

Responsibilities
Internship Overview:
  • Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
  • Internship Duration: Spring (January 16 - May 16)
  • Hybrid: work from home and in-person
  • Based in Seattle, Washington.

Internship Outcomes:
Responsibilities include assisting with the development and implementation of fundraising activities to support for the Hard Hats with Heart, Go Red for Women, and Heart and Stroke Walk campaigns for the Seattle, Washington market.
  • Work with Event Coordinators, Development Directors, and Executive Directors to support event activities including Heart Month and Wear Red Day and Heart Walk, Teens of Impact, Womens of Impact event campaigns.
  • Assistance with pre-Event Planning, day of execution, and event wrap-up projects related to any of the events listed above.
  • Email and call event participants.
  • Support recruitment efforts by scheduling appointments, identifying prospects, and preparing follow-up materials.
  • Work within event support systems.
  • Develop supporting materials for events including call scripts, invitations, stewardship communication, and participant/donor resources.
  • Help with volunteer recruitment and management.

Qualifications
Desired Qualifications
  • Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work professionally in corporate and non-profit environments.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong leadership experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Canva.
  • 20hrs/week availability, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5:00pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
