The firmware/applications team is seeking a motivated intern to provide support to our microcontroller business unit located at ADI's Dallas, TX location. As an intern, you will be part of larger 12-person team that maintains and supports ADI's low-power microcontroller product line. This includes maintaining the toolset used by customers, developing libraries and examples to ease the use of the microcontrollers, and provide customer support when needed.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Evaluate new microcontrollers through the entire development cycle. Hands-on lab work, both as an individual and with a team, is required to verify the performance and functionality of our microcontrollers and supporting hardware. This includes understanding the system, developing test applications, and preparing evaluation reports and other supporting documentation.
  • Develop, review, and test applications and libraries, with a strong focus on BLE and Radio communications. There is frequent need to develop new application code, libraries, and APIs. This software makes it easier for internal and external customers to use our products and often addresses customer/market application problems that can be quite involved.
  • Support customers. This could be described as doing whatever is necessary to secure a design win or sustain the business. Such tasks include, but are not confined to, direct customer support, evaluating and debugging customer code and applications, and helping the failure analysis and quality groups when they have problems or questions.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Within 15 months of completing a BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
  • Strong embedded C firmware design skills
  • Strong Python automation and test design
  • Strong software debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency with electrical lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power supply...)

Preferred qualifications:
  • Knowledge of electrical/computer/software engineering fundamentals
  • Electrical circuits debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and with a cross-functional team
  • Hands on experience with BLE or similar wireless connectivity protocols
  • Coursework in RF, Digital communication, and DSP.
