Intern, Actuarial

The JM Family College Internship program is designed to create an opportunity for college students to have meaningful work experiences that tie to their programs of study. As part of this program, you will actively contribute to your team's success, learn about JM Family's companies and culture while obtaining new skills through learning opportunities, networking events and much more.
The ideal candidate will be available to work full time hours during the Summer Internship Program (June 3, 2024 - August 9, 2024).
This internship will include projects and tasks that relate to actuarial work as well as reviewing data and actuarial methods for loss reserve analysis.
The Actuarial intern will gain actuarial experience and learn how to apply actuarial math courses or actuarial exams to solve real problems. This internship will provide opportunities for personal and professional development while working in a collaborative term environment.
Responsibilities:

• Review data quality and detect data anomalies
• Reconcile data to accounting report
• Observe and select loss development factors
• Learn different actuarial methods to determine loss reserves

Qualifications:

• This is a full-time, hybrid position.
• Ideal candidate will be actively enrolled in a bachelor's degree seeking program at an accredited college or university with a focus in Mathematics or Actuarial Science (qualified candidates actively enrolled for a degree in a related field will also be considered) and must have completed at least one semester of classes
• Relevant completed coursework including Probability and Statistics or similar
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with MS applications
• Knowledge of computer programming languages
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
