Our team of dispatchers work directly with shippers and warehouses to track and assign deliveries to our fleet Class A, employee operators. Our dispatchers provide updates when routes or duties change and communicate with our customers and vendors to ensure deliveries are made on time. We utilize a web-based transportation management system that streamlines the delivery order process, providing shipment tracking, driver scheduling, document imaging and much more. We work directly within the Port of Oakland servicing all terminals, rails and local warehouses. Deliveries range from Southern California to Nevada. The list below outlines some of the items we're looking to find experience within a candidate.
- Port Terminal Dispatching (TraPac, SSA, Everport, Matson)
- Rail Dispatching (Union Pacific, BNSF Railway)
- Experience working w/ Class A Truckers
- Basic PC skills (MS Office products, 35+WPM); Data Entry
- Understanding of Trucking Management Software (such as: Profit Tools, Netradyne, Motive, GeoTab, etc.)
- Shipment Tracking of Export & Import containers
- Port Terminal & Rail Tracking (Emodal, OICT, UP, and BNSF websites)
- Ability to review and respond to numerous emails daily
- Ability to maintain Trucker HOS Compliance
Responsibilities
- You will receive requests, transmit messages and track our fleet through our transportation management software.
- Schedule drivers to make deliveries and pick up shipments from customers
- Communicate with customers to record detail about shipments, arrange pick up times, and discuss any special handling issues
- Set up driver routes and maintain details of route changes, log customer shipping schedules and complaints
- Identifying traffic problems and issues and creating appropriate corrective action plans to achieve desirable results on time
- Review driver’s logs and maintain various records such as those pertaining to dispatched calls, vehicle repair, freight bills, and arrival times
- Track shipment activities and maintaining accurate records, having attention to detail with data entry
- Utilize organizational equipment and updated required information into systems complied with state and federal rules, procedures, and regulations
- Prioritize orders on the Dispatch board
- Report Inventory items
- Keep all office areas in a clean and orderly manner
- All other duties as needed
