Purpose:
Establish common framework for managing external Interfaces and integrating responsibilities between various parties on a project.
Responsibilities:
  • Issue Interface Management Plan including but not limited to the following:
  • Guidelines for defining and identifying Interface Points (IP)
  • Role and responsibilities for Key Interface Stakeholders
  • Key data input for each Interface Point
  • Interface schedule
  • List of Interface Manager(s), interface coordinators (if applicable), Disciplines, MAC, Contractors and Site personnel
  • Direct, monitor and document interface communications across Contractors and Third-Parties regularly per interface meetings including project steering team meetings, engineering team meetings and supply chain & construction meetings
  • Maintain Interface Management software including status of Interface Points, agreements, queries and corresponding schedule dates
  • Identify, prioritize based on risk, and track interfaces including the following:
  • Robust change management
  • Timely resolution of issues
  • Effective involvement & communication with Key Interface Stakeholders
  • Question those things you do not understand
  • Champion work share initiatives and manage the interface with other offices to ensure quality deliverables and overall project success
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the project team and an orderly, ethical, and professional atmosphere
  • Trust, respect and positively motivate the people working for you
  • Coordinate implementation of the Project Execution Plan, Technical Specifications, and best practices during each phase of the project
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative relationship with the client to promote common interests, foster mutual respect and further client confidence and trust
  • Develop and lead Workshops to educate project team (including Client and Contractors) about different types of Interface Points
  • Review the project contract and fully understand Worley's contractual requirements

SAFETY
  • Champion the Beyond Zero culture and the safety program and lead by example
  • Assist team members with obtaining personal protective gear and training as necessary
  • Ensure understanding and compliance and with safety in design (SID) initiatives and technical guidelines
  • Ensure Contractors have met company and client Safety requirements and that they strictly follow all mandated Safety procedures

TECHNICAL
  • Document agreements with names of attendees and issue Meeting Minutes
  • Ensure Interface software Register is complete and up to date including status progress and highlighted issues needing resolution
  • Coordinate the flow of data from Owner Furnished Equipment (OFE) vendors to project management, client and engineering & design team including but not limited to the following:
  • Process Chemistry & Utility requirements
  • Process Hazards - Definition, control and response
  • Environmental emissions and permitting requirements
  • Layout & spacing considerations & battery limit interfaces ("ISBL" vs "OSBL")
  • Control system integration, interlocks and permissive tabulations
  • Licensor recommendations for maintenance requirements
  • Operating & Maintenance manuals including staff training recommendations
  • Participate in Risk analysis and mitigation
  • Participate in the set-up of Construction Work Areas (CWAs)
  • Identify and number CWA boundaries on plot plan
  • Review and align Engineering Work Packages (EWPs) & Procurement Work Packages (PWPs) into Discipline specific Construction Work Packages (CWPs)
  • Act as the point of contact for consultants or other contractors engaged to support the engineering and design effort
  • Assist the construction and subcontract groups in defining construction subcontracts
  • Coordinate and provide technical scope input for subcontract RFQ
  • Assist the construction and subcontract groups evaluating and estimating construction change orders, using the Estimating group to confirm costs
  • Coordinate and participate in modular construction reviews and constructability reviews
  • Actively participate and monitor purchase commitments and subcontracts to ensure the design, fabrication, delivery of materials and execution of the work are in accordance with project requirements
  • Support disciplines in resolving technical and schedule related issues with vendors in a timely fashion that supports the project schedule
  • Provide engineering support to assist Shop QA/QC Inspectors in resolving vendor problems and issues
  • Interface with FAT & SAT teams to confirm Interface Points during Systems integrations, especially for Modules & Skids
  • Ensure tie-in identification procedure is established and is being followed by project personnel and the client
  • Ensure the team (including Work Share) is properly notified of Interface Points and approved changes in a timely manner
  • Work closely with the document management group to coordinate and expedite the flow of information among the disciplines to keep project on schedule
  • Work with the expediting group to ensure vendor drawings are reviewed and returned on schedule
  • Work closely with construction personnel to ensure design basis data for Interface Points are not revised during installation (applicable if some Drawings and Packages are not fully Issued for Construction)

ADMINISTRATION
  • Conduct monthly project Interface meetings and ensure meeting notes are recorded and issued in a timely fashion
  • Manage a project Interface Action Items List
  • Monitor and address changes to project scope
  • Work closely with document management for the orderly flow of information within the project

SCHEDULES
  • Actively participate in the interactive planning sessions and be able to identify schedule sequence and timing problems from a discipline perspective
  • Understand what information is needed for a discipline to achieve milestone dates considering market conditions for equipment and materials
  • Monitor all critical path links in the schedule and ensure disciplines are meeting schedule milestones
  • Hold planning sessions to address schedule issues or changes and implement workaround strategies
  • These sessions are to resolve delays in engineering or vendor deliverables or to address schedule improvement opportunities based on changes or accelerated completion of engineering activities
  • Ensure changes of deliverables are reflected in the schedule to allow for planning of schedule recovery/acceleration, or the proper schedule slippage/improvement is implemented and approved
  • Ensure Project Deviation Notices (PDNs) are submitted and approved in a timely fashion and adequately reflect schedule impacts
  • Manage schedule to ensure there are no surprises

  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, or comparable publications
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
  • Current on new scientific engineering methods and possesses a broad technical knowledge of the detailed design engineering process
  • Willing to share knowledge and experiences
  • Can act as a mentor

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
  • BS in Engineering with 15 years of experience as Project Engineer (or equivalent)

Preferred:
  • EIT, PE Certificate of Registration, and PMP certificate (preferred)
