Job description

Penn Medicine is dedicated to our tripartite mission of providing the highest level of care to patients, conducting innovative research, and educating future leaders in the field of medicine. Working for this leading academic medical center means collaboration with top clinical, technical and business professionals across all disciplines.
Today at Penn Medicine, someone will make a breakthrough. Someone will heal a heart, deliver hopeful news, and give comfort and reassurance. Our employees shape our future each day. Are you living your life's work?
Position Description: PENN E-LERT® is a tele-ICU program that utilizes state of the art technology to provide a sophisticated layer of clinical support to the intensive care units (ICUs) throughout the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The program supports over 500 intensive care beds with Penn E-LERT deployed as a health system standard of care. Clinicians utilize software technology, hardware technology, and trended data analysis to proactively identify impending or evolving patient problems, continually offering real-time clinical decision support, in collaboration with the bedside clinicians, on conditions that require immediate attention.
PENN E-LERT intensivist is a board-certified critical care intensivist physician with telemedicine as a subspecialty skill set. The intensivist must possess high-level skills in communication, decision-making, systems-thinking, and computer literacy, necessitated by the remote nature of the practice environment. The intensivist responds to routine, urgent, and emergent clinical problems and provides follow-up care to ensure resolution. The intensivist is an amicable member of a collaborative team responsible for providing tele-ICU services to a diverse population of critically ill adults across multiple hospital sites. The intensivist is confident, composed, responsive, and approachable when interacting with patients, families, and bedside clinicians via two-way camera technology. The intensivist requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. The intensivist role requires long periods of continued sitting or standing at a desk in an office setting.
Position is for a 7p-7a shift with all clinicians physically located in Philadelphia at the Penn Medicine Rittenhouse Campus.
Minimum Requirements:

  • Board certified in critical care.
  • Active or eligible for PA & NJ Licensure
