Job Duties
This position provides an array of recidivism-reducing programs and services, including cognitive, substance abuse and employment, including skills-building classes, batterer’s intervention program (BIP) for domestic Violence, grief, trauma, anger, moral reconation therarpy, aftercare and one-on-one support and assistance, for offenders under community corrections supervision. Prepare and submit monthly reports on all assigned programs as needed or requested. Maintain records of all supervision activities. Collect and test urine specimens from clients. Run breath tests for the presence of alcohol. Testing is to be done by/on selecting clients as instructed, following approved methods. Package and send all required urine analysis to the lab and track all expected monitoring of UA; s. Carry the Community Corrections concept of services to the community through public speaking.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a High School diploma or the equivalent.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and be insurable under Saline County’s fleet insurance policy.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice or any Human Services field plus two (2) years’ experience working with adults or juveniles in probation, parole, social casework or counseling preferred.
- Must not be registered on the Kansas Child or Adult Abuse Registries.
- Must have knowledge of investigative and interviewing techniques.
- Knowledge of the geography of the City and County preferred.
- Must have skills in the use of a personal computer and related software.
- Must have knowledge of psychological and sociological factors influencing human behavior.
- Must have knowledge of State laws and procedures that pertain to the Department and the ability to interpret social laws.
- An ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with others.
Physical Requirements
Determined Work Level: Level 2 – Light Work
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Required walking or standing to a significant degree; or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls. Ability to communicate ideas by means of the spoken and/or written word. Must be able to give directions/assignments and interact with the public. Must have fine and gross manual dexterity to operate computer and telephone. Possesses eye/hand/foot coordination sufficient to drive vehicle.
