Salary: $29.65-$43.20 DOE

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for an ICU Nurse/Staff Development Educator to join our Acute Care Team!

Provides direct and indirect patient care and exhibiting specialized knowledge in the Intensive Care Unit setting. Communicates with providers, care team, and other staff as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, can perform general nursing duties in all departments. This includes nursing assessments, planning, interventions, evaluations, and execution of the medical regimen including administering medications and treatments prescribed by any person authorized to prescribe by state law and hospital policy.

 

The Staff Development Educator facilitates educational opportunities based upon facility and departmental needs. Specifically, this position works closely with Department Manager to coordinate various opportunities and competencies to ensure safe, quality patient care, as well as staff development. The Staff Development Educator will demonstrate success in leadership and be a catalyst for growth and change within the department.


Major Job Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrates the communication by clearly conveying information and ideas through appropriate mechanisms in a way that engages people and helps them understand and retain the message.

Demonstrates ability to make patients and their needs a primary focus of one’s actions; developing and sustaining productive patient relationships.

Adequately assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.

Actively seeks opportunities to offer task assistance to all CPMC Team Members as appropriate.

Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes and care plan to ensure optimal patient care and documents per policy.

Administers medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.

Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate.

Assists providers with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.

Participates in meetings, committees, and continuing education to improve individual, departmental, and organization performance.

Performs waived testing (point of care) per Clinical Laboratory’s and unit’s policies and procedures. Interprets results of waived tests: taking appropriate action on waived tests results.

Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.

Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.


Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

Knowledge of nursing care principles, practices, and procedures.

Knowledge of safety principles and infection prevention in the patient care environment.

Ability to assess patient’s needs and coordinate appropriate nursing care.

Knowledge of rehabilitative nursing including pre- and post-operative care.

Must be able to pass N-95 respiratory testing or have the ability wear a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) annually.

Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Knowledge of electronic health record is required.

Has leadership role in assessing and organizing care flow of the patients and coordinates care planning with other disciplines.


Education Requirements

Associates degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing

MT state or compact state nurse licensure

Current BLS certification

ACLS, PALS, NRP & NIHSS; must obtain within 3 months of hire


Experience

A minimum of 3 years experience as an RN is required.

Experience in critical care nursing setting required.

Prior experience in education is strongly preferred.
