Intake/Fax Coordinator
Miami FL (part-time remote positions available for FL residents only)
Currently seeking part-timers for a great opportunity as an Intake/Fax Coordinator working remotely at a healthcare organization based in the Miami, FL area. The ideal candidate will possess great attention to detail with 3 years of medical terminology experience and extensive experience reading doctor's RX's for home health, Durable medical equipment and infusion/pharmacy services.
JOB SUMMARY:
Receives and distributes new referrals for Home Health, Durable Medical Equipment and/or supplies. Performs automated or semi-automated screening of requests for authorization and provides administrative, clerical support for UM Department coordinating the distribution of all incoming requests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Duties of the Intake Coordinator include, but may not be limited to:
- Receives client requests by e-fax for new orders or reauthorizations for home health, durable medical equipment and/or supplies.
- Verifies patient’s eligibility.
- Data enters insurance and client information into computer.
- Performs a “review of service request” for completeness of information.
- Collection and transfer on non-clinical data.
- Identifies urgency of the requests.
- Forwards requests for contracted HH Services and DME to Referral Coordinators for processing.
- Forwards requests for services not included as contracted services to Health Plan and to ordering physician.
- Contact ordering physicians, discharging facilities and social services by telephone on the date order is received to obtain additional information necessary to process orders
- Answers client’s calls to verify if orders/paperwork is received.
- Develops and maintains working knowledge of current home care products and services offered by COASTAL an all applicable insurance guidelines regarding eligibility for coverage and reimbursement.
- Manage incoming calls from members and providers in regards services coordinated by Coastal.
- Coordinates with other COASTAL departments as appropriate.
- Notifies supervisor of issues requiring higher-level resolution.
- Complies with all applicable COASTAL Policies and Procedures.
- Maintains a working knowledge of, and adheres to applicable federal/state regulations including but not limited to, laws related to patient confidentiality, release of information, and HIPAA.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate with office experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- 1-3 years of experience in medical terminology
- Experience reading prescriptions required
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Typing skills of 30 wpm.
- Ability to data enter, file, maintain records electronically
- WAH (Work at Home) Requirements - Must have reliable high speed internet. Minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 10 x 1 (10mbs download x 1mbs upload) required. Must have a separate private workspace / desk area designated for home office to ensure absolute and continuous privacy while at work.
