As we grow our service area in the Pacific Northwest, we are seeking an Intake and Benefit Investigation Coordinator to join our team of experts.

We offer private infusion suites at our office in SW Portland, Oregon. Our second office in Eugene will open early 2024 and is allowing us to expand our reach of care to more communities along the coast, in the Willamette Valley and in Southern Oregon. Our home infusion services provide patients the option of receiving care from the comfort of their home.

We are recruiting an Intake and Benefit Investigation Coordinator to join our team of health care professionals. As a Intake and Benefit Investigation Coordinator, you will be responsible for onboarding and processing information about new patients.

Position responsibilities:
  • Intake information from referral sources and patients in a professional, knowledgeable, and courteous manner.
  • Route patient referrals to the appropriate department or individual(s) in the pharmacy.
  • Establish and maintain accurate and complete patient records.
  • Receive calls from new patients and referral sources and document all customer communications.
  • Complete the verification of insurance coverage for new patients.
  • Complete the re-verification of insurance coverage for current patients.
  • Prepare and secure medical necessity and prior authorization documents.
  • Communicate with the billing department to ensure proper billing codes are used to quote patient financial responsibility for all products and services delivered.
  • Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the Compliance Coordinator.
  • Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies
  • Participate in the Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.
  • Participate in pharmacy committees when requested.
  • Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required skills:
  • Ability to organize and plan the activities of team members, and to delegate appropriately.
  • Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
  • Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions.
  • Proficient in computer skills that include use of spreadsheets, internet, word processing, and e-mail.
  • Identify process improvements, develop change plans, and present improvement ideas to leadership.
  • Ability to anticipate needs; consistently exceed referral source and patient’s expectations; maintain a high level of confidentiality; project a professional business image; be flexible and adapt to change; handle stress and pressure; and multi-task.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Preference for fast-paced, production-oriented environment.

  • Proficiency in standard workplace software and/or information management applications.
  • Prior experience working in an infusion pharmacy or healthcare setting.
  • Ability to navigate computer applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
