The Insurance Verifier contacts third-party payers (i.e. insurance companies, employers or on-line eligibility websites) and patients to determine a patient's coverage provisions and limitations.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Accountable and responsible for contacting third-party payers and patients to determine a patient's coverage provisions and limitations and calculates each patient’s financial liability in relation to their benefits.
- Reviews completeness and accuracy of insurance information loaded by registration staff during the admission process.
- Accurately reports information to members of the Business Office team and other members of Washington Health System.
- Completes and demonstrates competency in all technical skills and procedures as delegated according to established Washington Health System Core Insurance Verifier Skills & Responsibilities

Experience
Required- One (1) year of recent experience in verification of insurance benefits, or three (3) years of hospital billing or admissions required
- Ability to communicate both courteously and professionally with internal and external parties
- Basic knowledge of coordination of benefits and insurance terminology required
Education
Required- High School/GED or better
