Headquartered in Houston, Texas, BWC Terminals is a premier provider of bulk liquid storage and logistics services to refiners, manufacturers, and distributors of bulk liquids in North America. The Company consists of 22 sites with over twenty million barrels of storage capacity. The BWC Terminals facilities are equipped to store a wide range of petroleum, chemical, renewables, and agricultural products. PURPOSE
To provide maintenance and inspection of all instrumentation and vapor recovery systems at the terminal. Responsible for the maintenance of all products transferring equipment for trucks, tanks, cars, ships, barges, and liquid storage tanks. Performs support duties for sustaining service to our customers, compliance with federal and state regulators, and BWC Terminals' (The Company's) policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Below is a list of essential duties of this position. NOTE: Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Using hand and power tools, perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of pumps, piping, tanks, and other equipment. Dismantle machines, service or replace defective parts using standard repair or replacement parts and reassemble machines per written instructions. Wire and rewire motors to installation and removal. Align, lubricate, and perform other maintenance duties to ensure equipment is functioning and maintained.
  • Install and repair metering/loading equipment for loading and unloading tank cars and trucks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair the terminal's gauging, electrical and metering systems.
  • Install and repair electrical heat tracing equipment.
  • Install and maintain wiring controls and lightning systems.
  • Carry out filter and drying operations.
  • Inspect electrical components such as transformers and circuit breakers.
  • Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices.
  • Operate equipment as necessary including boiler, forklift, portable transfer pumps, fire pump, blower, compressor, air monitoring device, and vapor incinerator.
  • Ensure inventory of necessary parts is maintained. Order and stock spare parts, maintenance supplies, and similar items utilizing a computerized maintenance/ inventory tracking software.
  • Read and interpret documents/manuals related to the facility's equipment.
  • Inspect equipment and facility on a regular schedule to ensure equipment and facility are functioning properly and safely per company and federal/state safety requirements.
  • Ensure clean-up and restoration of facility after minor or major accidents/damage (water leaks, etc.).
  • Using hand and power tools, perform preventative maintenance and repair functions on buildings and structures, including HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and minor electrical installation, and repair (high and low voltage).
  • Coordinate, manage, and inspect projects done by outside contractors.
  • Research and make recommendations of equipment/parts purchases.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Responsible Care system. Participates in, promote, and follows the Responsible Care system.
  • Take the initiative to identify problems, use judgment to find appropriate solutions and follow through on resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain necessary records and paperwork- both on a computerized and paper based.
  • Interact and communicate with clients and co-workers in a professional and appropriate manner and respond to and give feedback in a respectful and positive manner.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSES, MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, LICENSES, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Electrical Technology Certificate preferred.
  • TWIC Card or ability to obtain a TWIC Card required.
  • 5-7 years of hands-on industrial electrical maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of 4-20 milliamp signals and loop circuits required.
  • Highly skilled and knowledgeable in electrical (high and low voltages) and facility operations to service, troubleshoot and repair equipment and systems.
  • Highly skilled in using hand and power tools.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply basic mathematical calculations, including fractions.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use computer systems and instrument processing software.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to become certified and operate a forklift and similar equipment.
  • Demonstrated skill in disassembling, repairing, and assembling equipment following written instructions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, blueprints, drawings and one-line diagrams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with customers and co-workers; ability to write report/documentation.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional and appropriate demeanor, work effectively with a diverse group of individuals and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with general direction from supervisor.
  • Capable of reporting to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position and willingness to perform duties as workload necessitates.
  • Ability to carry out the duties of this position while helping the company to meet its mission and while adhering to policies, procedures, and regulations, especially safety regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The working conditions and environment and the physical requirements/activities listed below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Working Conditions and Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is often exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including rain and heat/cold, noise, fumes, grease, oil, noxious odors, cleaning chemicals, paints, glues, and solvents. Approximately 90% of the workday is outdoors.
Physical Requirements/Activities: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, climb and balance on ladders of heights of 15-65', walk on elevated walkways, docks, railcars, and tanks, access confined areas/railcar bottoms, carry and reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, feel, and use tools and equipment and communicate (talk and hear). This position involves standing/bending/stooping/walking/climbing for approximately 90% of the workday. Frequently the employee is required to kneel, bend, crawl, crouch, push, pull, lift, or twist. Occasionally the employee is required to lift or exert force of more than 50 pounds. Frequently, the employee is required to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required is close vision of 20 inches or less and vision ability of greater than 3 feet.
