Opportunity Summary
The Instrumentation Control and Electrical (IC&E) Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems and Electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities. The IC&E Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all electronic and Electrical power plant equipment and systems.
Primary Functions

  • Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems
  • Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment
  • Forecast, inventory, and reorder spare parts to maintain plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories.
  • Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records
  • Inspect repair, install and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries, and work with electrical systems up to and including 4160 volts
  • Conduct troubleshooting and analysis on DCS, PLC and MK V turbine control equipment
  • Complete the required periodic calibration and maintenance of the Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEMs) equipment
  • Complete other tasks as requested by the Maintenance Manager

Additionally, the IC&E Technician will become trained and qualified to perform operating duties such as:
  • Read meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions
  • Record data such as temperature of equipment, hours of operation, temperature or pressure, and fluid levels
  • Adjust manual controls or override automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment
  • Assist in start-up, shut-down and normal operations of power plant systems
  • Operate mechanical and Electrical apparatus such as fire protection equipment, HVAC components, waste water and drain systems, switchgear circuit breakers, chemical sampling, chemical feed, water treatment subsystems, and fuel systems

Working Relationships
The IC&E Technician reports to the O&M Supervisor, works in cooperation with the operating utility on matters pertaining to the daily operation of the plant and responds to direction from the Plant Manager in the absence of the O&M Supervisor.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.).
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the sites.
Work Schedule
This position offers a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, "Modified Dupont Schedule". Position may require extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
Compensation
The initial compensation will range from $30.00 - $38.00.
Job Qualifications
  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school
  • Graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program and two years' work experience as a technician in a related industry desirable
  • Four years work experience as a technician with increasing responsibility in a related industry may be substituted for the above requirement
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others and be self-directed, as well as apply creative solutions to unique IC&E problems is desirable
  • Must be able to work from blueprints
  • Must be skilled in the use of hand and power driven tools
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience in working with voltages up to 4160 volts highly desirable
  • Must have strong personal computer skills
  • Valid driver's license required
