Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$50,839.00

 

Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:

$70,837.00

 

To attain the maximum hiring amount employee must have:

  • Liberal Arts or Developmental Education Faculty Position: applicable Masters degree plus 36 credits (or an applicable terminal degree), plus 10 years of applicable work experience.
  • Career Technical Education (CTE) Faculty Position: applicable Masters degree, plus 10 years of applicable work experience.

Job Description:

Full-Time, Faculty, 9-month Academic position – Unmanned Aircraft Systems Faculty. This is a Full-Time, tenure-track, benefited Faculty position beginning Fall Semester, 2024.
The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach. The faculty member is also responsible for scholarly and creative activities (professional development), and service to the college.
Depending on applicants' strengths and experience, primary position responsibility is to instruct UAS ground content, flight training, field applications, and/or engineering courses.
1. Instruct assignments as it applies to UAS and must be available to teach day and/or evening classes.
2. Assist in the development and/or modification of curriculum to meet changing technology in the UAS industry, as well as textbook selection and new courses.
3. Participate in student evaluations, advising, registration, and recruiting and retention activities.
4. Must participate in department, division, and college activities while complying with college and FAA policies, procedures, and mandates.
5. Stay current in professional areas by participating in professional development activities.
6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Chair or Academic Dean.

 

Teaching: Interacting with students to provide opportunities to learn, creating conditions that facilitate learning, and using techniques and methods that create a high probability that learning will occur. To achieve such interaction, a teacher must possess three basic abilities:

  • Instructional Delivery: those human interactive skills and characteristics that make for clear communication of information, and promote learning through an effective learning environment.
  • Provide effective and high-quality instruction of subject being taught.
  • Apply learning-centered educational practices such as creating and communicating clearly-defined outcomes for student learning.
  • Provide a diverse array of learning activities that directly tie to those defined outcomes.
  • Use assessment data to improve instruction and learning, and participate in an ongoing College-Wide dialogue about teaching and learning.
  • Develop and refine department curriculum as necessary to maintain currency in pedagogy and content.

 

Instructional Design Skills:

  • Includes technical skills in designing, sequencing, and presenting experiences which promote student learning, and designing, developing, and implementing tools and procedures and procedures for assessing student-learning.
  • Use and develop appropriate computer-based technologies, including online instruction to promote student learning.
  • Design, develop and implement tools and procedures for assessing student-learning outcomes.
  • Adopt new teaching methodologies as appropriate.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of learning for students.

 

Professional Obligations:

  • Implement department, division, and/or institutional goals as assigned.
  • Maintain office hours, turn in grades on time, meet assigned classes.
  • Submits course syllabi and other required documents on time.
  • Manages the classroom facility.
  • Keeps accurate attendance and grade records.
  • Meets other professional obligations as stated in the Faculty Annual Plan and Evaluation.

 

Scholarly & Creative Activities (Professional Development) those endeavors related to a faculty member's teaching assignment that contribute to the discovery, dissemination, and practical application of knowledge and/or skill. The activities that may be required, as appropriate to the faculty member's teaching assignment, include the following:

  • Acquire and/or maintain certification.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and/or training appropriate to one's field.
  • Complete coursework related to one's teaching assignment.
  • Create teaching methodology and instructional design.
  • Other activities that contribute to keeping current in the content field.

 

Service Helping:Helping the college to meet the goals and objectives of its mission and strategic plan. The activities that may be required, as appropriate to the faculty member's teaching assignment, include the following:

  • Fulfill College service requirements by making meaningful contributions on campus and/or to community service groups.
  • Participate in institutional and departmental recruitment and retention activities. Assist in the evaluation and selection of textbooks and other resources and materials in one's assigned area.
  • Serve on department, division, and institutional committees.
  • Assist in program and curriculum review, revision, and the development and assessment of learning.
  • Maintain classrooms and/or labs.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to embrace and apply the provisions of the College's mission statement, purpose, philosophy and commitment to diversity.
