The Opportunity
The Department of Nursing Practice in the College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure earning Instructor or Lecturer position. The selected candidate will be expected to teach face-to-face web-enhanced courses in adult care, with an emphasis on clinical and didactic courses in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing for undergraduate nursing programs. The position will be located on the UCF Daytona Connect Campus and is expected to begin fall 2024.
The selected candidate will work collaboratively with nursing colleagues and colleagues from other disciplines, maintain clinical practice competence, remain actively involved in professional organizations, maintain scholarship in their field, and actively seek opportunities for and participate in College of Nursing faculty governance.
Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching at the undergraduate level: clinical and didactic Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing courses in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing settings (i.e., outpatient and inpatient).
  • Teaching other areas of Nursing as qualified (i.e., essentials, health assessment, practicum) when needed.
  • Teaching in simulation activities when needed.
  • Other duties include student advisement and mentorship; participating in planning, organizing, and developing curriculum for the Nursing Programs; service to college and university committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution by date of hire (instructor), or doctorate in Nursing from an accredited institution by date of hire (lecturer).
  • Unencumbered current RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
  • Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Recent clinical experience in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing (within past 2 years).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recent undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience (within past 2 years).
  • Recent experience in teaching using online platforms.
  • National professional certifications in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing (Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate is preferred).
  • Current APRN licensure in Florida.
  • An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution (for the lecturer rank).
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate education.
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate instructional technologies in the classroom.
  • Background in areas, including but not limited to, community health, public health, nursing leadership and management, and nursing policy and willingness to teach these courses, when needed.
  • Demonstrated scholarship (e.g., publications, national presentations) and active participation in community and/or professional Psychiatric/Mental Health organizations.
