Portland Community College's (PCC) Medical Lab Technology (MLT) Program is a regional leader in educating the next generation of laboratory technicians. We are currently seeking a full-time faculty member who can teach a wide range of in-person program courses.
The MLT Program offers a 2-year associate's degree that provides face-to-face didactic courses, hands-on skills labs, and clinical rotations to prepare students for the ASCP certification exam and a career as a laboratory professional. The MLT program is located on PCC's Cascade Campus in the historic Albina Neighborhood in North Portland where it is a leader in advancing equity and social justice.

This is a full-time, benefitted teaching position with instructional responsibilities currently focused on the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms with summers off. The position will start September, 2024 and we encourage candidates without formal teaching experience to apply!

- Management, leadership, or supervisory experience in a clinical and/or educational environment.
- Experience with program development and curriculum revisions in an academic setting, or change implementation in a clinical setting.
- Experience collaborating effectively with industry and clinical partners.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a Bachelor's degree in related science discipline
AND
- MLT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) certification or equivalent
AND
- Two (2) years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting performing testing or working in a post-secondary education program.
- Experience collaborating effectively with industry and clinical partners.
PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.
* Please note: Temporary Full-Time Faculty are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.
Paid Leave:
- 1 day of sick leave for every 18 days worked (~10 days/year)
- 21 hours of additional personal leave per year
- 4 paid holidays (which occur during the term you are teaching)

Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
