Instructor

As an Instructor, you will be instrumental in teaching and guiding students through their learning experience. You will be expected to work closely with Assistant Instructors and Mentors to review, critique, and help students with project work. The Instructor will also ensure that students understand what they should be working on, accomplishing their project goals, and are understanding concepts taught in the curriculum.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Deliver lectures, answer student questions, help solve student issues/bugs, and generally facilitate course content
• Lead in-class exercises, project time, and participate in discussions
• Work with education staff to ensure quality and that the correct principles are being learned and applied
• Participate in regular student reviews and critiques
• Inspire students to move through the challenges of learning a new skill set
• Work alongside the other instructional staff to best meet the needs and learning styles of students
• Advise students with meaningful and prompt feedback on their progress

Job Skills:

• Ability to facilitate an engaging lecture where topics can be understood by beginners
• Experience creating technical curriculum is a plus
• Skilled in all languages, frameworks, and other technologies within curriculum (JavaScript or Python preferred, and/or experience in Data Analytics, Cyber Security, Product Management, User Experience, Quality Assurance, Web Development, Java, iOS)
• Is a proactive communicator, strives to be articulate in their speech towards students
• Ability to give and take constructive feedback
• Industry familiarity with related technologies and tools (Git, Github, Command Line, Linux, etc)
• Experience delivering lectures and lab exercises
• Able to learn on the fly

Work Experience:

• 6 months + in a technical engineering position
• 6 months + in education position

Education:

• Self-taught developer, Bootcamp graduate, or equivalent degree

Certificates, licenses and registrations:

• Dependent on teaching area

Other:

• Typical classroom setting with lecture hall and computer lab
• Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor
• Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job
• Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant
• Access information using a computer
• Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain
• Effectively cope with stressful situations
• Strong mental acuity
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job
