Job description

JOB TITLE:Instructional Leader: Secondary Level
BASE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Masters Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate in any content area
  • Minimum of 5 years successful teaching
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate
  • Successfully pass the district background check

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback

  • Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently (often against short term deadlines) with a high degree of functionality
  • Models continuous improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students achieve
  • Outstanding organizational skills with an attention to detail
  • Strong technology skills with data entry, various website and program experience

JOB SUMMARY:
  • The role of the Instructional Leader is to merge the complex details of instruction and testing programs with effective teaching and learning. This position is specifically targeted for assisting teachers and leading at the Secondary Level. This position fills an important connection between curriculum, instruction and assessment responsibilities.
  • This position is responsible for compiling, maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of student assessment data, curriculum documents, and all related materials involved with the Teaching and Learning Department. This information will be used to provide accurate overviews of student achievement and data trends.
  • This position will have influence in decisions revolving around instructional and assessment decisions for the district.

Please note: This is NOT a supervisory position and DOES NOT include evaluation of colleagues.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Nine-month school year as established by the Board of Education. * Please note: This position also includes 10 additional contract days to be used in coordination with the Director of Teaching and Learning.

EVALUATION: Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the district's Personnel Evaluation Policy
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Consistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
  • Support program implementation
  • Collect and analyze secondary assessment data,
  • Assist in the development of curriculum in designated areas
  • Assist with grading practices, assessment development, and proficiency scales
  • Implement training on the use of program and assessment materials.
  • Complete details on curriculum documents for public posting and internal work
  • Collect and analyze district, state and national data for reports.
  • Builds strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other colleagues.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently in solving problems.
  • Ability to conduct training and informational meetings
  • Ability to gather, analyze, chart and interpret data.
  • Assist in the management, training, data charting and analysis of local, state and national tests.
  • Responsible for Curriculum Instruction and Assessment templates work including, but not limited to updating, collecting, posting, reviewing, archiving, and organizing curriculum materials.
  • Train on instructional programs for new products for new employees, provide follow up support.
  • Lead groups or initiatives on behalf of the Teaching and Learning Team to address concerns and strategize solutions.
  • Visit classrooms and buildings to assist with instructional practices and program implementation.
  • Possess a strong understanding of standards based grading practices
  • Create and communicate a schedule of visits with building administration.
  • Assist administrators and teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.

  • Understands, supports and trains on PLC culture
  • Suggests positive recommendations for the continuing review and development of curriculum
  • Remains current with professional training and shows evidence of regular professional growth
  • Actively participates at scheduled staff meetings, PLC's, and serves on educational committees
  • Recognizes the extra curriculum program as integral to the educational development of the child
  • Performs other duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned by the appropriate administrator
