Position Summary
The Instructional Design Librarian is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of library instruction and campus-wide information literacy efforts. This position will work with librarians and faculty to incorporate subject specific information literacy into the curriculum. The Instructional Design Librarian will create, maintain, and revise digital learning objects that support the information literacy curriculum. The position will coordinate information literacy assessment efforts at the Giovale Library and use results to implement relevant changes. This role supports student success by providing information literacy instruction and by continuously adapting and improving information literacy efforts.

  • Develop, deliver, and assess information literacy instruction for assigned liaison programs, including in-person and online instruction
  • Integrate new technologies and pedagogies into the delivery of instruction
  • Contribute to library instruction efforts with the instruction team

Responsibility
Curriculum Design and Assessment
Description
  • Coordinate the library's efforts to incorporate subject specific information literacy in the Westminster College curriculum
  • Support other librarians in the development of information literacy curricula
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of library instruction efforts
  • Coordinate and manage information literacy assessment efforts; includes creating assessment instruments such as surveys, focus groups, interviews, rubrics, balanced scorecards, and internal data collection forms
  • Ensure that data is analyzed and reported with integrity and honesty; protects the welfare and dignity of human subjects and respects the privacy and confidentiality of all library users and library employees

  • Serve as liaison to selected academic programs; select materials for liaison schools and programs
  • Participate in Library staff meetings and contribute to the planning and development of Library-wide policies and services
  • Provide reference/research assistance to library users
  • Participate in collection management activities such as serial and monograph weeding and database review and selection
  • Establish and sustain an ongoing service and scholarship record
  • Maintain current trends and developments in assigned areas of responsibility and the field of librarianship
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Digital Learning and OER
Description
  • Create web content designed to promote and facilitate information literacy, including video tutorials, research guides, and digital learning objects
  • Maintain knowledge of OERs and low-cost textbook initiatives. Raises awareness of open educational resources and textbook affordability initiatives across the campus
  • Provides leadership of efforts to inspire and recruit faculty to develop, adopt, and/or assess open educational resources for the benefit of students
  • Create, maintain, and revise new digital learning objects

Extended hours, including evenings and weekends will be required., Ability to respond on-call as assigned, including evenings and weekends is required., Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch required., Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds required.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA accredited program plus three years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience with library instruction and information literacy
  • Knowledge of pedagogical and learning theories in online, hybrid, and in-person teaching
  • Ability to use instructional technologies and create digital learning objects
  • Familiarity with assessment and evaluation methodologies and activities
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a collaborative work environment and will have demonstrated success in working with diverse populations
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity with respect for people of all backgrounds, experiences, and diverse perspectives

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education is preferred
