The History Department within Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Chapman University invites applications for a non-tenure-track Instructional Assistant Professor of History with teaching experience in American and World History beginning August 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Teachlower and upper-division undergraduate history courses per academic year  to satisfy program requirements in the History Department, the new Liberal Studies major housed in the Donna Ford Attallah College of Educational Studies, and one or more interdisciplinary minors offered by Wilkinson College.
  •  Perform service to the unit, college, university, profession, and broader community as expected of a non-tenure track faculty member.

Qualifications:

Required

  • A conferred Ph.D. from an accredited institution with a degree in history by time of appointment.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and a student-centered approach, including the ability to provide support and guidance to students.

Preferred

  • Evidence of teaching excellence in one or more of the following areas of History: race, ethnicity, gender, or health/disability studies.
  • Teaching experience in American History
  • Teaching experience in World History
