Linwood Center is at the forefront of efforts to address the needs of the autism community. Since 1955, Linwood is one of a handful of programs in the United States and one of only three in the state of Maryland that provides comprehensive education and residential programs throughout the lifespan under one service umbrella. We develop lifelong relationships with individuals living with autism and related developmental disabilities from elementary school through retirement and old age.
The Instructional Assistant reports to and is supervised by the Special Education Teacher under the direction of the Education Director. He/she is responsible for assisting in the implementation of each student's Individualized Education Program (lEP). The Instructional Assistant provides assistance with instruction, engages students during non-instructional activities, and monitors students while moving to and from various locations and activities. The Instructional Assistant must be able to take direction from all supervisors in implementing best practices and support students through both work tasks and limits set by supervisors. He/she must be energetic and enthusiastic, as well as, patient and understanding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Instructional Assistant must meet the following criteria's listed below:
- Effectively and professionally communicates with:

- Parents/Caregivers

- Follow all Behavior Intervention Plans
- Use a neutral tone when managing behaviors
- Adhere to exclusion, seclusion, and restraint regulations & BPS
- Collect required behavior data
- IEP Implementation
- Implement instructional plans designed by professional staff
- Facilitate student learning by implementing IEP adaptations and strategies
- Working with Students
- Engage students during academic work
- Engage students during non-academic activities
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalence and one (1) year of experience preferred
- Must be 18 years old
- Must have excellent behavior management skills and be able to redirect inappropriate behaviors quickly
- Must be able to lift 80 pounds
- Must be able to pass an FBI and State of MD background check. Will also be required to pass a federal drug test, complete a physical and a TB test

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm.
Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour
