INSTRUCTION LIBRARIAN
In the Boston Architectural College (BAC) Library
The Instruction Librarian is a full-time exempt position of 40 hours per week that oversees all aspects of coordinating, planning, and executing the Library’s information literacy program. A primary goal of this position is working with faculty and education department directors to integrate information literacy competencies into undergraduate and graduate courses.
This position reports to the Library Director.
Primary Essential Functions
· Work with faculty and education department directors to integrate information competencies into the curriculum.
· Coordinate and schedule library instruction and information literacy activities
· Serve as the contact person for general inquiries for library instruction.
· Advocate for and promote information literacy to the BAC community.
· Assess, evaluate and maintain statistics regarding the information literacy program.
· Investigate and utilize, where relevant, new pedagogical approaches to information literacy.
· Create teaching materials such as research guides (LibGuides) and online tutorials.
· Enhances knowledge of curriculum by attending faculty presentations.
· Assists part-time employees at reference desk as needed.
· Provide reference service at the Library’s Reference Desk.
· Will work at least one night a week in conjunction with the rest of the staff.
· Create and implement mobile library visits.
· Manage class reserves. Contact faculty, retrieve materials, prepare on-line reserve lists, and update them throughout the semester.
· Is the point person for our distance program who manages and promotes the use of library materials by distance students.
· Perform additional tasks as determined by the Library Director.

Academic Preparation
Candidate will either have an earned Master of Library Science degree from an accredited institution or be close to completing that degree. Familiarity with the literature of the arts and design is desirable.
Requirements
· BA and master's in library and information science - Preferred
· Experience with information literacy in visual arts and/or design disciplines
· Excellent communication skills
· Excellent skills in research and analysis
