Job Description:
***This position is eligible for up to two days remote work per week.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, and in collaboration with the Institutional Research and Effectiveness (IRE) team members, the position contributes to the reporting, research and analysis, and assessment functions of the office. Working independently, and as a part of a team, the incumbent serves as an active collaborator and contributor in the development of accurate, timely and meaningful information to enhance continuous improvement efforts across the institution. This position is eligible for remote work up to two weekdays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop report queries to extract data from university operational data store verifying data accuracy; initiate and resolve data quality issues.
  • Provide standard and ad hoc reports and analyses to address data inquiries utilizing established tools and methodologies.
  • Compile and combine data from multiple sources, formats and types to create data sets optimized for analyses.
  • Collaborate with team members to compile and report data required for external accountability (e.g., IPEDS, accreditation bodies) and data required for rankings, ratings and guidebook submissions.
  • Support initiatives and activities to develop Salve's data governance program including membership on the Data Governance committee.
  • Collaborate in the development and maintenance of IRE office procedural documentation, methodologies, and analyses processes for data related tasks.
  • Acquire and maintain thorough understanding of the flow of data throughout university systems, university data sources, the university operational data store and underlying data structures, and understand the appropriate use of each.
  • Under the guidance of the IR staff, proactively identify and analyze data and research results in support of institution-wide and departmental assessment and accreditation efforts to evaluate effectiveness of programs and services.
  • Aid in survey research including survey administration logistics and compilation of quantitative and qualitative results.
  • Prepare and/or contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations based on research findings.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in meetings, work groups, committees to advance the mission of the office and contribute to a culture of data-informed decision-making.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance technical skills and understanding of Institutional Research principles and practices.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Director for Institutional Research and Effectiveness.

Requirements:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (data science, statistics, social sciences, or a related quantitative field); bachelor's degree in another field with additional training and/or experience in a quantitative field also acceptable.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a research/data analytics, statistical analyses, or data science role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with generating queries for data extraction; combining large data files; and data management principles.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to multi-task and flexibility to respond quickly to changing priorities while meeting deadlines.

  • Committed to continuous learning and applying new skills as technology evolves.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field and three or more years of experience working in higher education and/or knowledge of Institutional Research and assessment processes and methodologies.
  • Experience using data and analytics tools in a higher education environment (Tableau, Power BI or other data visualization tools).
  • Experience with survey design platforms (e.g., Qualtrics)
  • Experience with quantitative analyses software for statistical analysis (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R)
  • Knowledge of qualitative data analysis techniques

Salary range: $50,046 - $62,558 based on qualifications.
